What does knocking do?

When a door has opened and shut again, tapping it opens it for a second and burns 1.5 seconds of candle. A knock is never a mistake. A door that has not opened yet ignores taps.

How long does a game last?

Usually one to three minutes. It ends when all twelve cases are solved or the third lantern goes out.

Peekaboo Inn is a free online deduction puzzle set in a hotel corridor at night. A wanted poster lists two to four clues, doors swing open to show guests, and you tap the one guest who matches every clue. A wrong accusation puts out a lantern. It plays in the browser on phone or computer, with no sign-in, over twelve cases. Early cases keep every door open, and later ones close doors again to test your memory.

How to play Peekaboo Inn

A cream wanted poster lists two to four clues about the culprit: a hat, a scarf colour, what they hold, glasses or a coat colour. The inn's doors open one after another and show a guest behind each. Exactly one guest matches every clue. Tap that door.
Look-alikes match all clues but one, so check every clue. In later cases the doors shut again after a moment: tap a shut door to knock and look again (it burns a little candle). A wrong guest or an empty candle puts out one of your three lanterns; with none left the run ends. Solve all twelve cases to win.
Quicker cases and perfect cases (no mistake) score more. HINT makes every guest who shares the first clue glow: 2 free per game.

Remember a red cross stays on doors you have ruled out, so do not tap them again.
