How to play

Play Cakewright free online

Cakewright is a free online cutting puzzle set in a busy bakery. Each order gives you a limited number of straight knife cuts and asks for a set number of equal pieces. Drag across the tray to slice every cake the line crosses, then see how fair your pieces are. It plays in the browser on phone or computer, with no sign-in. Higher orders add cherries to dodge, so the later cakes ask for more careful lines.

How to play Cakewright

  1. Read the order card: it says how many cuts you get and how many equal pieces you must end with, for example 'Cut 4 times - make 9 equal pieces'.
  2. Press and drag on the counter to draw a knife line across the tray, and let go to cut. The line slices every cake it crosses, and each piece shows its share. Cherries stop the knife.
  3. After the last cut the smallest piece decides: the closer every piece is to a fair share, the more stars and time you earn. A wrong answer costs time and resets the tray. UNDO and RESET are free, HINT shows the next cut, 2 free per run.

Cakewright tips

  • Check the preview shares before releasing, since the line shows the pieces it would make.
  • Crossing cuts can beat parallel strips, so try a cross when a plan seems to have too few cuts.
  • Keep cuts clear of cherries when they appear, because a line near a cherry is refused.

Cakewright questions

Can every order be solved?
Yes. Every order is built around a set of cuts that divides the cakes exactly equally, so the cuts on the card always work. A hint shows the next one, and tells you if your cuts are off the plan.
Why did my cut not count?
A cut that misses every cake, or runs through a cherry, is refused and does not use up one of your cuts. Going over the number of pieces only warns you; undo a cut and try again.
Where does a new run start?
Your furthest order is saved. Every tenth order is a checkpoint you can pick on the title screen.
