Play Floecut free online
Floecut is a free online cutting puzzle on drifting sea ice. Spiky frost urchins bounce around a floe, and you swipe across the ice to crack it so the empty piece sinks while the urchins stay. A crack that touches an urchin costs a heart. It plays in the browser on phone or computer, with no sign-in, and floes get trickier. You have three hearts, and a cut that would lose an urchin simply does nothing.
How to play Floecut
- Press in the water beside the floe, drag across the ice and out the other side. The ice cracks along your swipe. The piece with the frost urchins stays, the empty piece sinks. Cut the floe down to the GOAL mark on the gauge to clear it.
- The urchins bounce round the ice all the time. If one touches the crack while you draw it, you lose a heart (you have three). Swipe fast and aim for a gap between them. Fewer cuts earn more stars.
- Dark rock ridges on the edge stop a crack: cut elsewhere, or use the PICK. SLED lifts one urchin off the floe and FREEZE slows them all down. Every third floe gives an item, and HINT draws a swipe line that turns green when it is safe, 2 free per run.
Floecut tips
- Wait for a gap where the urchins are all on one side, then swipe straight through it.
- Lifting your finger on the ice cancels the swipe for free, so back out when unsure.
- Cut away as much empty ice as you can each swipe, because the goal is to leave only a small share.
Floecut questions
- Where do I start a swipe?
- In the water, never on the ice. Press beside the floe, drag across it and keep going until your finger is out of the ice on the other side. Lifting your finger on the ice cancels the swipe and costs nothing.
- Why did nothing happen when I swiped?
- Either urchins were on both sides of the line (the floe only splits when all of them are on one side), or the crack ran into a rock ridge. Pick another line, wait for the urchins to move, or use the PICK item to cut through rock.
- What are the three hearts for?
- An urchin that touches your crack while you draw it costs one heart, and the swipe is lost. With no hearts left the run is over. After each cut the urchins get a little quicker, so plan your cuts.
