Play Letterlark free online
Letterlark is a free online word search set in a dawn sky of cloud tiles. A clue and a letter count tell you what to find in a ten by ten grid, and you drag a straight line across the hidden word, or tap its first and last tiles. Right answers bank spare time. It plays in the browser on phone or computer, with no sign-in. Miss a word and you lose a nest egg, so a steady eye matters more than speed alone.
How to play Letterlark
- Read the clue at the top: it describes one hidden word, and the panel tells you how many letters it has. Find it in the 10 x 10 grid of cloud tiles. The word runs in a straight line in any of 8 directions, forwards or backwards.
- Press the first letter and drag across the tiles: a yellow line follows your finger and snaps to a straight line. Let go to check it. You can also tap the first tile and then the last tile. A wrong line costs 1 second and your streak.
- Beat the clock: spare seconds go to your BANK and add time to the next word, and every clean find builds a STREAK that multiplies your points. Run out of time and you lose one of your three eggs. HINT rings the first tile (2 free per run).
Letterlark tips
- Use the letter count in the clue to rule out words that are too short or too long.
- Words can run in any of eight directions, and dragging backwards works just as well.
- Scan for the rarest letter in your guess first, then check the neighbours around it.
Letterlark questions
- Which direction is the word in?
- Any of eight: left to right, right to left, up, down, or one of the four diagonals. The first eight stages use each direction once, in order, so you learn them one by one; after that it is random. The word never wraps round the edge.
- Does it matter where I start the line?
- No. Starting at the last letter and dragging back to the first works just as well. The hint rings the first letter if you are stuck.
- What are the bank and the streak?
- When you find a word with time to spare, half of the spare seconds (up to 6) are added to the next word's clock. Finding words without a hint or a wrong line builds a streak that raises your points up to double. A wrong line or running out of time resets it.
